NTFP & Timber Management

Technology tools for
Timber and NTFP management

This section provides information on innovative technology tools used across the globe for sustainable management of timber and Non-Timber Forest Products. The modules and functionalities of these tools include a) resource inventorying, b) harvesting and value addition, c) logistics and transportation, d) marketing/ trading, e) financial monitoring, f) compliance monitoring and reporting, g) documentation and generation of different reports. There is limited technology tools used for inventorying NTFPs and mapping of supply chains and value chains of NTFPs. There are many online platforms/ e-commerce platforms available for trading of agriculture and forest products including NTFPs. A number of innovative technology tools have been developed by tech agencies, sustainable management certifying agencies for timber management. Some of these tools can also be used for sustainable management of NTFPs. The table below presents some of the innovative technology tools for timber, which can also be used for NTFP management.
